5 Design ideas for remolding our small bathroom

5 Design ideas for remolding our small bathroom with diminutive fixtures – sinks , faucets , vanities , tubs & painting color – lighting

  • In general for choosing fixtures ( though remodeling small bathrooms or installing new ) – selecting the fixtures with curved corners and small ones , increase the access space of the bathroom and make us feel larger than in real . we can choosing small and cute fixtures with customized options on colors , shape and design style from the specialty showrooms . choosing the fixtures similar to room theme ( painting color or tile pattern ) is good – and yes having the bathroom painted in mild color will provide larger bathroom feel . previous topic on small baths remodeling ideas may also help .
  • While choosing small bathroom sinks & faucets – we can go for wall mounted sinks , pedestal sinks or corner sinks . also we must keep mind that choosing the type and size of sink smaller than average must not counter with our comfortable hand wash ( as it will irritate till its life ). a cornered faucet with a oval sink make a good choice – change the position of the faucets according to your door and size of lavatory . a design and layout suggestion may also help us .
  • selecting the vanity for our bathrooms – some of us are not happy with just a wall mounted sinks or pedestal ones , as they don’t solve the purpose of storage in our bathroom . we may select diminutive vanities with counter top sinks . what ever we are going to do – sure have plan , visualize and also think practical alternative for adding small vanities and other fixtures .
  • Choosing toilets for our small bathroom – in case of remodeling the bathroom this is heavy job . in most of the small bathroom the toilets is placed in front of the door – it is common , for that we can select the rounded bowls instead of the elongated ones ( as these elongated toilets consume 5 to 6 more inches ) . a simple suggestion from me – having rounded bowl and a single tank model is good ( hmm i know some us feel uncomfortable with the round model toilets ).
  • some tips on colors & lighting for compact bathrooms – be in thumb rule dont go for primary & strong colors . sure they will present us a ever smaller bathroom . having a paint color shades similar to other rooms our house and adding a affordable large , anti fog mirror with provide a large bathroom perception. change the lighting to natural and bright color will be pleasant too.. some small bathroom designs for gathering idea.ideas for remolding our small bathroom

Wood Counter Tops, A Consistent Choice for the Modern Kitchen Design

Wood Counter Tops, A Consistent Choice for the Modern Kitchen Design
Wood Counter Tops, A Consistent Choice for the Modern Kitchen Design
Wood Counter Tops, A Consistent Choice for the Modern Kitchen Design
Wood countertops are becoming popular again in modern kitchens. We now know that wooden countertops, when properly cared for, are both long lasting and sanitary. The modern adhesives are strong enough to keep the wood staves bonded together even the butcher block is submerged into the water. The finishing oils (mineral oils) are safe in contact with food products and preserve the wood surfaces.
A hardwood top is very easy to cut to templates and even easier to install. Unlike the solid surface or laminate, wood tops have a minimum of chemical components, which make them extremely safe in contact with foods. Unlike the other countertop materials, any occurring scratch can be easily removed by sanding the area; the wood tops actually constitute the only known surface that can be renewed without employing special tools or requiring special skills. Hardwood surfaces can be used as kitchen island tops, inserted sink covers, sections of countertop, or as butcher block hidden under the countertop that can be pulled as drawer or cart. Your imagination will surely find plenty of other interesting, visually attractive applications.

For a quite few decades, the plastic and laminate surfaces, due to their non-porous structure were considered much safer than wood for applications such as chopping meat or slicing vegetables. The wood, because of its porosity was thought an ideal surface for harmful bacteria like Salmonella, Staphylococus or Escherichia coli to thrive. However, a study undertaken in 1993 by the microbiologists of Wisconsin Food Research Institute and another one carried out in 1998 at university of Florida discovered the strong antibacterial properties that wood surfaces exhibit, properties that no other cutting surface appears to possess.

According to these studies and to others that followed them, on wood surfaces, bacterial populations disappear quite fast, without external intervention, while on plastic surfaces they persist and actually multiply. Although these properties vary among wood species, the wooden cutting surfaces are increasingly accepted as the first choice of health-conscious individuals.

Small Home Design

Small Home DesignJust a few short years ago, living in a shipping container was considered to be a slightly upmarket version of living in a dumpster. Now, however, containers are being recycled for housing purposes across the globe, with a remarkably chic reputation being attached to the practice. Readily available, affordable, easily weatherproofed, roomy, conveniently expandable, and unsurprisingly easy to ship, they might just take off.The derelict shanty cities of empty containers surrounding most major ports mirror the story of trade deficits. Their inexpensiveness is their downfall: across long haul trade routes, it’s comparable in price to buy a new container on one’s own side of the ocean than ship the old unit back empty. So their abundance, coupled with their stackable structural integrity, has stirred many an architect’s creative juices.

5 Questions to Ask Your Custom Home Designer

Custom Home DesignerYou are excited about building your new small home and have endless ideas of what it is going to be. Chances are you have been clipping images from magazines and did some research online to find inspiration. Now you need to sit down with your designer and communicate your vision to her. Designers are creative by definition but are trained to listen to your vision, too, to help you organize and refine your ideas and then translate them into a feasible reality. Be sure you ask your designer the right questions to ensure that you are getting exactly what you want.
  • What is your designer’s commitment to green design?

You want to work with somebody who not only has experience with green design but stays current with industry trends and is truly committed. A custom home designer that is knowledgeable about green building can help you design a home that will save energy and be sustainable, plus qualify for LEED or other energy programs.

  • How well does your designer work in teams made of professionals of different disciplines?

Since any type of building requires many players, it is important that your designer is a good team player and can communicate well so that the experience is a pleasant and effective collaboration between all consultants.

  • What is the estimated time frame to complete the home design?

It is essential that your designer will make a schedule that contains milestone dates and a realistic time frame for completion. It’s also important to understand your designers ability once your custom home is being built for any changes that may be needed.

  • How will your home designer bill you?

Some designers bill hourly, some bill hourly with a maximum cap while others charge a flat fee or a percentage of total construction. Before signing an agreement, you should fully understand how and how often you will be billed.

  • Does your home designer have a portfolio of completed work and other references?

Different designers have different styles and specializations. The best way to see if your designer and you are a good match in regards to personal stylistic preferences is to ask for a portfolio of work. It is also a good idea to ask for references.

If you can get satisfactory answers to all of your questions, you should be very comfortable with your selection of home designer. Do not hesitate to ask as many questions as you need to during the design process, a good designer should be able to have or find answers for you. It can be a complex process, do not be shy to also get explanations for issues you may not fully understand at first. A smooth collaboration between your designer and you will make your dream of your own custom small house come true.

Preparing for winter

Preparing for winter designHow do I keep the lawn in good condition?
Consider an autumn feed but remember to follow the feed manufacturer's instructions. Raking or scraping and poking holes in the lawn with a pitchfork are all additional tasks that you may need to think about, especially if the lawn gets a lot of use and the soil is heavy.

How would you protect and disguise garden furniture during winter?
Garden furniture has to cope with winter conditions unless you have space somewhere (in a shed or maybe even inside your house) to store it. Putting plastic, even green, covers over furniture can look horrible, but if this is the only alternative, move the furniture and covers to a sheltered spot where everything is out of eyeshot.

What are your most effective winter planting combinations?
Architectural plants with striking foliage, such as Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' and Mahonia japonica 'Winter Sun' look good in winter sunlight and backlit at night. For larger gardens, try a massed planting of Cornus alba 'Sibirica' underplanted with scilla species.

Colorful Bedroom decoration

Color is the key to decorating bedrooms for teens. Colors can reflect their interests and personalities. Bedroom design creativity allows teens to express their style and confidence. The bedroom also should be a place where friends can come and hang out with ease.

Arrange Furniture in a Small Space

Assess your space: Before you convince yourself that there is too little room, or your furniture is too large, visualize your space on paper or in your head. Rooms that have doorways to another space will need to have a clear walkway through your space and through the doorway. Therefore, do not place very large furniture too close or in the middle of traffic pathways. If you have windows, take into consideration tall furniture that can block views out of these windows.
