Pennsylvania is bordered by Maryland and southern Delaware, West Virginia, south-west, west of Ohio, New York, New Jersey, in the north and east. Pennsylvania has 45,000 miles of river network, 50 2500 natural lakes and artificial lakes. Rivers like the Delaware, Susquehanna, Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio are the major rivers in Pennsylvania. Delaware and Susquehanna drain the eastern part of the state, while the Allegheny and Monongahela drain the western part. Flora and Fauna
Pennsylvania forest area consists of trees such as hemlock, maple, oak, pine, walnut and birch. Species of soft rubber are more common in the south-west, while red pine birch, and paper can be found in wooded areas to the north. Trees as small berries in June, and New Jersey tea is also found in abundance. Species of northeastern bulrush, which were once very commonly found in this area are listed now in danger of extinction, while species such as the small whorled Pogonia and Virginia spirea are enlisted as endangered.
White-tailed deer is the animal of Pennsylvania, while the grouse necklace is the official state bird. The black bear, gray fox, muskrat, raccoon flying squirrels and hares are common mammals in this region. Over 150 species of fish to dive into the waters of Pennsylvania, the most common herb gatherers, the pirate perch and white bass. Birds such as Robin, Cardinal, swallow and the sparrow in English can be found here in abundance.
